Career Club

With updated information.
Career Club is a community site for job seekers and employers. Ultimately, its aim is to empower employees and employers.
While relatively new, it already has 533 members on its record. We see a lot of potential on this website as it offers something that trabaho.com or ph.jobstreet.com doesn’t have- a sense of community and camaraderie which adds a more personal touch to job searching online. Still, digging further into the site, content in some areas are lacking and we don’t see too many happenings going on. But that’s not a an issue for now since they are only starting. Content will build up as the website ages. Then again, it has to keep its trail on the right track to garner more members and not lose the interest of existing members. The site must be able to continually update articles and offer more tools that are really useful to people seeking jobs or career change.
The overall make up of the site is excellent- just as what one should expect from any professional website. The site exudes authority and builds trust almost instantaneously! How one website can do that and not the other is a mystery but there is always that initial feeling one gets from seeing a website for the first time. It’s like meeting someone for the first time. The overall feel is just right. Everything is clearly labeled. There is balance between text and images. The colors are well blended. The site shows order and organized thought. What more can one wish for?
This community website is recommended for job seekers and employers who want to put a human touch to their career search online. There’s not one like it online that’s exclusive for Filipinos as far as we know, so that right there is unique and special in itself.
UPDATE: 22 June 2008
People at Career Club are true professionals and they mean business! We visited their site on June 5th, expressed some concerns on our feature here and immediately got a quick response! We’re told that improvements and changes are on the way early next month. The month isn’t even over and we already heard back from them! The new site is up! We looked and were we impressed this time! What a huge transformation! We are so happy to hear from them and the changes made! We updated our review and hope we do the site justice! Well done, you guys!
Below is the ‘old’ design. We decided to keep it along with the old review so we all can learn from it somehow.
We said in part:
“We would be remiss if we didn’t mention a few observations on the downside of the site makeup. It doesn’t show right when viewed in Internet Explorer. We tried in three different computers with Windows XP and Vista and it gives off an info at the bottom left browser: Done but with errors on page. This is what we see, the navigation button color desperately needs changing as it is too glaring for comfort and the members gallery needs a little adjustment as its data extends over the template’s width. For both browsers, the navigation bar itself is off on the right so it shows just below the bar itself. These could be easily tweaked and hope the publisher takes notice for the sake of visiting readers still using Internet Explorer and to give the site a more professional look especially so that its site focuses on jobs and career. From creating resumes to the actual job interview, we all want to convey professionalism as it’s been proved, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” The same is true for everything else we do in our lives.”
In this case, we gave careerclub.com.ph a second look and they just outdid themselves! Way to go! Congratulations!
