“The San Diego Asian Journal was established in May 1987 as “The Asian Journal.” It has consistently introduced innovations in the newspaper business from the very beginning. It has become the First Filipino Newspaper in San Diego to publish in a broadsheet form. It is the first Filipino newspaper to publish its front page in full color. It is the first Filipino newspaper to avail of American news wire services like the Associated Press for sources of news in addition to the news and articles gathered and written by its staff. It is the first Filipino newspaper in San Diego to come out on a weekly basis. It has consistently won major awards, not only from the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce but also from other mainstream organizations like the National Conference of Christian and Jews.”
